My client is looking for an experienced and motivated Deputy Head Nurse to join their established and growing nursing team at a well-equipped small animal practice in Cheshire. This is a fantastic opportunity for a nurse who enjoys variety, leadership responsibility and being part of a genuinely supportive, progressive environment.
Working closely alongside the Head Nurse, the Deputy Head Nurse will support the day-to-day running of the clinical team, helping to drive efficiency, governance and continuous improvement across the practice. The ideal candidate will be a strong team player who enjoys getting stuck in, supporting colleagues and leading by example. Excellent communication skills are essential, along with confidence managing a varied caseload across consults, inpatient care and theatre.
The practice places a strong emphasis on continuous learning and development and is keen to support nurses who want to progress, grow their skill set and make the most of the excellent CPD opportunities available.
The practice is modern, spacious and extremely well equipped, with two operating theatres, a dedicated dental suite with digital and handheld dental X-ray, digital X-ray and ultrasound, separate wards for dogs, cats and small animals, walk-in kennels, an isolation unit, in-house laboratory, multiparameter monitoring and a growing orthopaedic caseload.
Full-time nurses typically work a 4-day week, supporting a healthy work–life balance, with 9-hour shifts that include a mix of consulting, inpatient and surgical duties. The weekend rota follows a 1-in-4 pattern, and flexible working arrangements are actively encouraged - my client is very open to conversations around finding a working pattern that suits individual needs.
The salary on offer is £29,000–£34,000 DOE, alongside an attractive benefits package including a profit share bonus scheme, CPD allowance, enhanced maternity pay, income protection, compassionate leave, long service recognition, overseas charity work opportunities, retail discounts and access to health and wellbeing support.
With continued investment in people, facilities and development, this is an excellent opportunity for a nurse looking to take the next step in their career within a forward-thinking and welcoming team.
