Are you looking for a role where you can actually make an impact, have a proper say in how things are done, and still have a life outside of work?
I’m working with a really lovely small animal practice in Cheshire that’s going through a genuinely exciting time – they’ve recently had a big refurb and rebrand, and are now looking for a Lead Vet to help drive things forward clinically.
This is one of those roles where you get the responsibility and input, but without being pulled too far away from the clinical side. You’ll be supported by a Head Vet and Practice Manager, so you’re not left to figure everything out on your own.
You’ll be very much hands-on day-to-day – supporting the team with clinical decisions, helping with more complex cases, and being that go-to person when others need a second opinion. There’s also the chance to have a real input into how things are done, from protocols through to general improvements across the practice.
The hours are a big plus too – it’s a 30-hour week across 3 days, with just 1 in 5 Saturday mornings (9am–12:30pm), and no Sundays or out of hours.
The team itself is genuinely friendly and supportive, with a good mix of experience across the vets and nurses. They’ve got a varied caseload with a high proportion of insured clients, so you can work cases up properly and practice to a high standard. They’re also a social bunch – dog walks, pub trips, the occasional escape room – it’s a nice environment to be part of.
They’re ideally looking for someone with solid GP experience who is confident clinically and enjoys supporting others. If you’ve led a team before, great – but if you’re ready to step up into that kind of role, they’re open to that too. It’s more about attitude, communication and being a good team fit.
Salary is up to £70,000 depending on experience, with CPD and certificates fully supported and professional fees covered.
It’s just a really nice opportunity for someone wanting that next step without sacrificing work-life balance.
