    About This Role

    A new opportunity has arisen for a Night Veterinary Surgeon to join the team at a purpose-built, RCVS accredited veterinary hospital in Brighton. This role can be offered on a full-time or part-time basis and focuses on supporting a growing medicine and emergency team handling a large, varied caseload from multiple practices across the region.

    The ideal candidate will be an experienced, approachable team player with a strong interest in Emergency and Critical Care, and the ability to work confidently during night hours.

    About the Hospital:
    The hospital has been serving the local community for over four decades and offers exceptional facilities, including:
    • Eight consulting rooms
    • Dedicated cat, dog, exotic, isolation and day procedure wards
    • Three theatres and designated preparation areas
    • CT scanner
    • Dental suite
    • Full in-house laboratory with a dedicated lab technician

    The day team includes two dedicated hospital vets managing medical inpatients, who provide a full clinical handover to the night team, including a Registered Veterinary Nurse and Animal Nursing Assistant. A specialist exotics team works during the day, with night cover including hospitalised exotic patients.

    The wider team includes colleagues with a broad range of specialisms including orthopaedics, ophthalmology, exotics and advanced imaging. The hospital is committed to ongoing development, offering both in-house and external CPD opportunities.

    The Role:
    • Sole charge position with structured handover
    • Night shifts: 7.00pm to 9.00am
    • Supported by a Night Nurse and Animal Nursing Assistant
    • Fully resourced day team to manage daytime caseload
    • Opportunity to pick up additional shifts for holiday cover
    • Full-time or part-time options available

    Working Patterns and Salary
    Full-time
    • 4 nights on, 8 nights off
    • Salary £61,159 to £65,405 (based on 32.67 hours per week)

    Part-time
    • 4 nights on, 20 nights off
    • Salary £32,500 to £35,850 (based on 16.38 hours per week)

    The hospital is located within walking distance of Brighton town centre and the seafront.
