My client is looking for a progressive Clinical Director to lead their established small animal team in Cornwall. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon ready to take the next step into a leadership role within a supportive and forward-thinking environment.
They are a long-standing practice with over 65 years of delivering high-quality care to both companion animals and farm species. Operating across multiple well-equipped sites, all with surgical facilities, the practice offers a fantastic coastal and countryside location with strong clinical support and resources.
They work up a wide range of medical and surgical cases in-house, with access to dental radiography, visiting orthopaedic specialists and advanced diagnostic imaging led by a certificate holder. Professional development is actively encouraged, with support for certificates and a generous CPD allowance.
The team is collaborative and sociable, made up of experienced vets, highly skilled nurses, and a strong support team. Regular clinical meetings and social activities contribute to a positive and inclusive working culture.
The Role:
This is a full-time position, typically across a 4.5-day week, with flexibility available to suit individual needs. Standard hours are 08:30–17:30 with a one-hour lunch break, supporting a strong work-life balance.
The role includes participation in a Saturday morning rota (approximately 1 in 6, moving to 1 in 7), with time off in lieu provided. There is no out-of-hours emergency work required; however, inpatient care is retained in-house with overnight nursing support and veterinary backup.
Alongside clinical responsibilities, the Clinical Director will play a key leadership role within the practice.

Leading and supporting a team of Veterinary Surgeons
Maintaining high clinical standards, compliance and client care

Acting as the clinical voice in operational and strategic decisions
Supporting performance management and clinical governance
Working closely with the wider leadership team
About You:
An experienced Veterinary Surgeon with strong clinical skills
A confident and approachable leader with a collaborative mindset
Excellent communication skills with both clients and colleagues
Passionate about delivering high standards of patient care
Previous leadership or mentoring experience is desirable
Motivated to support team development and continuous improvement
