An independent practice where you can truly make a difference

We’re looking for an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse or to join our friendly, independent small animal practice.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an RVN who values continuity, teamwork and building genuine relationships with clients and patients. You’ll become an important part of a close-knit clinical team where your skills, ideas and contribution are genuinely appreciated.

     The standard working pattern is:

    • 4 weekday shifts, 8:30am–7:00pm

    • A fixed weekday off

    • Saturday morning, 9:00am–1:00pm, approximately 1 in 6

    • No routine out-of-hours commitment

The practice typically operates with 2–3 Veterinary Surgeons and 4–5 Nurses on weekdays, with nurses working across a clearly structured rota:

There is a fixed rota, allowing nurses to develop strong working relationships with the Veterinary Surgeon they are paired with for operations, while also providing continuity for clients and opportunities to grow your own consulting caseload.

     Out-of-Hours

Routine OOH work is covered externally, allowing the team to enjoy a healthy work-life balance.

On the very occasional occasion that a stable inpatient needs to remain overnight, the duty nurse will check on them in the evening, with additional clinical support available if required.

These situations are extremely rare, but the practice values being able to offer this option to clients when appropriate.

     About the Practice

This is a genuinely independent practice with a strong reputation for excellent patient care and exceptional client service.

The practice has built a loyal client base and was recognised with a Best Vet UK award in its opening year.

You’ll be joining a team that takes pride in remaining independent and creating a warm, personal experience for clients and their pets. New clients are carefully managed through a waiting list, allowing the team to maintain high standards of care and continue building strong relationships.

     Free Accommodation

One of the standout benefits of this position is free accommodation.

The practice has access to a lovely three-bedroom bungalow close to the practice, providing spacious and comfortable accommodation.

The property may occasionally be shared with visiting locums or, in the future, another member of the team. Initially, however, it may be available solely to the successful candidate. Alternative accommodation is also available during the transition period if required.

Please note: dogs cannot be accommodated. Well-behaved cats and small pets may be considered on an individual basis.

     About You

We’re looking for an RVN or Senior RVN who is:

    • Experienced and confident in small animal practice

    • A strong team player who enjoys working collaboratively

    • Passionate about excellent patient and client care

    • Keen to build long-term relationships with clients

    • Comfortable working across surgical, inpatient and consulting environments

    • Organised, reliable and adaptable

    • Interested in developing their skills and taking ownership of their role

     What We Offer

    • Salary of £30,000–£34,000, depending on experience

    • Free accommodation

    • Health Shield

    • Generous staff discount

    • Consistent weekly rota

    • Fixed weekday off

    • Approximately 1 in 6 Saturday mornings

    • No routine out-of-hours work

    • Opportunity to develop your own client base

    • Supportive and close-knit team

    • Genuine long-term commitment to remaining an independent practice

If you’re looking for somewhere you can settle, build relationships and become a valued part of an independent practice, this could be an excellent opportunity.

You’ll have the chance to work within a stable and supportive team, develop your own client relationships and enjoy the benefits of a well-structured rota — alongside the rare opportunity to receive free accommodation.

If you’re an RVN or Senior RVN looking for your next long-term role and want to be part of a practice where people, pets and personal service really matter, we’d love to hear from you.
