    About This Role

    An established, friendly small animal practice in Cumbria is looking for a caring and enthusiastic Veterinary Surgeon to join their supportive team. This is a 100% small animal, single-site practice offering a genuinely welcoming environment with a strong focus on high clinical standards and excellent client care.

     

    This well-equipped practice is passionate about keeping a wide range of medical and surgical skills in primary care. The team works collaboratively, sharing knowledge and supporting one another while also encouraging individual interests and professional development.

     

    Facilities include:

    • Digital x-ray (including dental)

    • Ultrasound and video endoscopy

    • In-house laboratory with biochemistry and haematology

    • Strong in-house diagnostic and investigative capabilities

     

    The practice runs its own healthcare plans, allowing continuity of care for both preventative and illness-based treatments. Patients are treated to an exceptionally high standard, and the practice places real value on communication, teamwork, and a positive working culture.

     

    The Role is as follows:

    • Full-time role (part-time considered)

    • 15-minute consultations

    • Supported by an experienced team of Veterinary Surgeons, RVNs, SVNs, Animal Care Assistants and a dedicated front-of-house team

    • 1:4 out-of-hours rota with consistent duty nights and one weekend per month

    • Any OOH work is fully remunerated

    • Flexible rota with scope to swap shifts when needed

     

    The location offers an excellent work–life balance, with easy access to the Lake District and the Scottish Borders.

     

    The Ideal Candidate:

    • At least some post-graduate experience in small animal practice

    • Confident with sole-charge consulting and routine procedures

    • A compassionate communicator who enjoys building long-term client relationships

    • A team player who is also comfortable using their own clinical judgement

    • Keen to continue developing skills and interests within a supportive environment

     

     

    What’s on Offer

    • Salary between £40,000 – £60,000 FTE, including OOH (DOE)
