    Small Animal Practice in Somerset
    Salary up to £70,000 DOE

Lacey’s client, a well-established and locally owned small animal practice in Somerset, is seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon with an interest in mentoring to join their friendly and supportive team.

Open since 2014 and locally owned since 2020, the practice has retained its close-knit team and built an excellent reputation within the local community. It is RCVS accredited and has achieved ‘Outstanding’ for Client Care and Inpatient Services.

    The Practice

The surgery operates from a modern, stand-alone building in a convenient retail park location with ample parking and good local amenities. The practice continues to grow while maintaining high clinical standards and a loyal client base.

    The Team

The successful candidate will work alongside a highly experienced and supportive team, including a practice owner who is a multi-certificate holder, a senior vet with over 20 years’ experience and a passion for surgery, a new graduate vet and a dedicated nursing and client care team.

    The Role and Culture

This is an excellent opportunity for a vet seeking genuine work–life balance within a well-organised and positive environment. Full time is preferred, though flexible working options can be considered.

    • 20-minute consultations as standard

    • Structured days with regular team catch-ups

    • Practice closes at 6pm several days per week

    • No out-of-hours commitment

    • 1 in 3 Saturday mornings only

The practice places strong emphasis on wellbeing and recognises that a supported team delivers the highest standard of care.

    About the Candidate

The practice is looking for an experienced small animal vet with strong general practice skills across medicine and surgery. The ideal candidate will be confident, collaborative and skilled at building lasting client relationships.

An interest in mentoring is highly desirable, and there is an opportunity to become a Vet GDP Advisor as the team expands and supports new graduates.
