    About This Role

Veterinary Practice Manager – East London – Up to £42,000

Ready to take the next step in your veterinary career and move into a leadership role where your experience can make a genuine difference?

If you’re an experienced Head Nurse, Senior RVN, Veterinary Nursing Team Leader or Practice Manager looking for a role with real responsibility and a strong sense of purpose, this could be an exciting opportunity.

You’ll be joining a charity-led veterinary service where animal welfare comes first, supporting animals who may have been abandoned, neglected or have nowhere else to turn.

As Practice Manager, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the veterinary team has the leadership, resources and support needed to deliver outstanding standards of care.

    The role

Working closely with the veterinary, nursing and support teams, you’ll take responsibility for the day-to-day management and operational performance of the veterinary service.

You’ll work alongside clinical and administrative colleagues, while also liaising with senior management and trustees to help deliver wider organisational objectives.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • Leading, supporting and developing veterinary, nursing and support teams

    • Maintaining high standards of clinical care, animal welfare and governance

    • Managing rotas, staffing and resources

    • Overseeing stock control and coordinating bulk purchasing

    • Managing client accounts and outstanding debt

    • Supporting staff management alongside the HR team

    • Managing budgets and operational performance

    • Contributing to service development and strategic planning

    • Working with senior management and trustees to manage operational risk

    • Supporting the organisation's 24-hour service

    • Providing occasional out-of-hours management support for staffing, HR and operational matters

This role would suit someone who has developed strong clinical and leadership experience and is now ready to step beyond day-to-day nursing into a broader management position.

You’ll have the opportunity to use your veterinary knowledge while developing your skills across:

Leadership • People Management • Operations • Finance • Governance • Service Development

It’s a varied position where no two days are likely to be the same, and where your decisions will have a direct impact on both the veterinary team and the animals in their care.

    What we're looking for

You’ll ideally be an experienced RVN with previous leadership or management experience, such as a:

    • Head Nurse

    • Senior RVN

    • Veterinary Nursing Team Leader

    • Existing Practice Manager

You’ll be an organised and confident leader who can balance the needs of people, patients and the wider organisation.

Strong communication skills, sound judgement and the ability to manage competing priorities are essential.

    The package

    • £40,000–£42,000, depending on experience

    • 40 hours per week

    • 5 days per week

    • 1 weekend in 6

    • Some out-of-hours work required

    • Opportunity to develop your management and leadership career

    • The chance to work within a purpose-driven veterinary organisation

    Make your experience count

This is an opportunity to take the experience you’ve built as a veterinary nurse and use it to influence an entire veterinary service.

You’ll be working for an organisation with a clear purpose: protecting animals and giving them the care, safety and future they deserve.

If you’re ready to take the next step into practice management and want your leadership to have a genuine impact on animal welfare, this could be the role for you.
