We are seeking an experienced and confident Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join a friendly and well-established first-opinion practice in Lancashire, in a consulting-focused role with excellent flexibility and a strong emphasis on work-life balance. Salary is £45,000–£65,000 DOE.
This is an excellent opportunity for a vet who enjoys client interaction and high-quality clinical decision-making. The role is primarily based at a consulting branch in Lancashire, with the option to include some routine procedures if desired to maintain surgical skills. The position is full time, though part-time and flexible working arrangements are very much open for discussion. There is no out-of-hours requirement, with dedicated OOH provision in place to ensure continuity of care.
The practice is a long-established and RCVS-accredited small animal group with a strong reputation locally and an excellent, loyal client base. They provide first-opinion care across the region from a main hospital and branch network, supported by modern facilities including digital x-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, in-house laboratory, surgical theatres and dedicated dental and ward facilities. The wider team is experienced and supportive, with certificate holders in medicine, dentistry and ECC, alongside a highly skilled nursing and support team.
They are looking for a vet who has ideally completed VetGDP, with confidence in routine consultations and strong communication skills. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about delivering excellent client care, committed to ongoing learning and keen to work within a collaborative and supportive team environment. There is a strong culture of CPD and development, with access to specialist support in areas such as ultrasonography and cardiology.
A wide range of benefits is offered, including generous CPD allowance with paid CPD days, RCVS and VDS cover, professional subscriptions, 6.6 weeks holiday (pro-rata), volunteer leave, cycle to work scheme, corporate gym membership, optional private medical insurance and wellbeing support including mental health first aiders and regular team social events.
The team is made up of around 65 colleagues across multiple branches, working closely together to create a positive, collaborative and supportive environment. The culture is built around teamwork, respect and maintaining a healthy work-life balance, with both staff and clients valuing the welcoming atmosphere within the practice.
