About the Practice
An established, independent small animal veterinary practice in South Devon is looking to recruit a Veterinary Receptionist to join its friendly and supportive team.
The practice is RCVS-accredited, treats a wide variety of small animals and exotic species, is recognised for its commitment to rabbit welfare, and is an approved Veterinary Nurse Training Practice.

The Role
As the first point of contact for clients, suppliers and visitors, you'll play a vital role in creating a welcoming and professional environment while ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the reception team.
Working closely with both clinical and administrative colleagues, you'll combine excellent customer service with strong organisational skills, supporting clients through everything from routine appointments to more emotional situations with empathy and professionalism.
Travel between branch practices may occasionally be required, so a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Welcome clients and their pets to the practice
Act as the first point of contact for clients, suppliers and visitors
Answer telephone calls, book appointments and respond to enquiries
Recognise and escalate medical emergencies promptly to the clinical team
Register new clients and maintain accurate patient records
Obtain and manage patient histories from other veterinary practices
Scan and upload documentation to the practice management system
Process payments, issue invoices and assist with insurance claims
Provide general information on preventative healthcare products
Dispense authorised repeat prescriptions
Maintain reception retail displays
Support clients with empathy during sensitive situations
Ensure confidentiality in accordance with GDPR and RCVS guidelines
Keep reception and waiting areas clean, tidy and welcoming
Complete end-of-day cashing up and reconcile financial records

About You
The ideal candidate will have previous reception or administrative experience. Veterinary experience is welcomed but not essential.
You'll also be:
