Lacey’s client, an established veterinary hospital in Hampshire, is seeking a Veterinary Surgeon to support its clinical team on a fixed-term basis.
This is a hands-on role offering genuine clinical variety, working with clients who value accessible veterinary treatment and clear, practical guidance. It would suit a vet who enjoys problem-solving, communication and case continuity rather than target-driven practice.
Working alongside experienced vets and nurses, the successful candidate will contribute across all areas of hospital work, including consultations, surgery and inpatient care. The environment is busy yet supportive, with strong encouragement for case discussion and collaborative decision-making.
Daily duties include:
Small animal consultations and treatment planning
Routine and urgent surgical procedures
Inpatient care and case monitoring
Diagnostic work-ups including imaging and dentistry
Clear communication of treatment options and outcomes
Supporting preventative healthcare and welfare education
The hospital is well resourced and designed to support high-quality first-opinion and urgent care work, including:
Dedicated dog and cat wards
Digital radiography and ultrasound
Endoscopy and dental equipment
Fully equipped operating theatres
Orthopaedic kit and piped anaesthetic gases
The practice is looking for a Veterinary Surgeon who:
Is MRCVS registered
Communicates clearly and empathetically
Takes a pragmatic, welfare-led approach
Works collaboratively within a team
Is organised and confident managing a varied caseload
Previous UK small animal experience is beneficial but not essential.
£45,750 – £60,112 DOE (pro rata, incl. allowances)

5 days CPD + £1,000 allowance (pro rata)
Professional fees covered
Generous annual leave (pro rata)
Pension contribution up to 10%
